Lyra
FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

No. Lyra helps you stay organised and gives you an estimate of where you stand with tax throughout the year. For anything final or specific to your circumstances, you should always check with HMRC or a qualified accountant.

Not currently. Lyra helps you keep your income, expenses and receipts organised and gives you the information you need when it’s time to file. You’ll be able to export a clear summary to use yourself or share with your accountant.

Lyra uses the income and expenses you record to estimate your taxable profit, then applies the relevant UK tax rules and allowances to give you an ongoing estimate of what you may owe. As your earnings or expenses change, your estimate changes too.

We take the security of your financial information seriously. Lyra is being built using trusted cloud infrastructure and security controls designed to protect your data. We also don’t need access to your bank account at launch — you stay in control of what you add to Lyra.

No. Lyra doesn’t require bank access at launch. You add your income and expenses yourself, and you can photograph receipts to help keep everything together. That means you stay in control of what goes into Lyra without giving another app access to your bank account.

Making Tax Digital is HMRC’s move towards digital record keeping and tax reporting for self-employed people and landlords. Lyra is being built with MTD in mind. Our goal is for a future version of Lyra to connect with HMRC and support MTD requirements directly. Until that integration is available, Lyra will help you keep your income, expenses and records organised digitally.

We’re working on Lyra now and we’ll announce the launch date as soon as it’s ready. Join the waitlist and you’ll be among the first to know — with early access, useful money tips, product updates and a few extras for being here from the beginning.

Lyra provides estimates and guidance to help you understand and plan your tax position. It is not a substitute for professional advice and does not file returns on your behalf. Always confirm figures with HMRC or a qualified accountant.
